Furniture Donations

We are in need of gently-used, small, furniture for our clients.
Specifically, we are looking for loveseats, dressers, desks, desk chairs and dining tables with chairs. The donated items need to be small, light, in good working condition and easy to move.

Help Create a Home

The youth we serve live in small, (usually) unfurnished, apartments. The furniture we supply needs to be lightweight, small, easy to move, and in good condition.
If you have furniture you would like to donate, we will happily consider your items. Our greatest need is for small dressers, end tables and nightstands and small loveseats that are in good condition. Please see below for items we accept and those we cannot use, as well as donation instructions and guidelines.
We are very grateful to the Yolo community for supplying us with gently-used, high quality household furnishings to our youth. THANK YOU!

To Donate New or Gently Used Furniture:

  1. Send an email to: info@mihyolo.org with a brief description of what you intend to donate. Due to the specific needs of our youth we cannot accept all items.  Please read our in-kind donation guidelines above.

  2. Attach a photo of each item. Many of our participants live in small spaces so we ask for photos of your items to ensure we can meet their needs.

  3. If possible, measurements of sofas, tables and dressers are very helpful and we may ask for them.

  4. We will respond within 72 hours and arrange a day and time for our volunteers to assess your donation in person and pick it up (or if you prefer you may drop it off at our storage unit).

  5. We appreciate your understanding that if the item offered is in need of repair or refinishing, or is not durable, or not an item our youth would be able to use, we will gratefully decline it. While photographs are wonderful, they do not tell us if a drawer doesn’t work, or the back of a sofa has been scratched by a pet. Thank you for your patience if we need to decline an item after seeing it in person.

We are grateful to you for taking the time and energy to donate. You are helping transform the lives of Yolo County transition age youth and saving items from the landfill!
